Moving Mountains Yoga is a modest and contemporary boutique wellness studio offering professional instruction to those seeking balance of mind, body, and spirit

What is Yoga?

The word yoga translates as union or to yoke. Yoga can be defined simply as anything that unites you to the present moment. Yoga asana or yoga poses and meditation is a practice for longevity of optimal health for body, mind and spirit, and can include various traditions and styles. Continue to read to explore the styles we offer. Yoga is not a religion, but can deepen your self awareness, connecting you more to any form of spirituality. As with all people, yoga is diverse and each experience is different, to best define yoga is to practice for yourself.

YIN & GENTLE YOGA

Yin Yoga is a more passive practice of yoga that involves variations of seated and supine poses that are held 1-5 minutes which helps to access deeper levels of connective tissue. Yin Yoga’s emphasis and benefit is on mobility and flexibility of the joints and can be deeply restorative.

Gentle Yoga classes emphasize rest and relaxation for students looking to alleviate stress and fatigue.

Both styles are suitable for Beginners.

VINYASA FLOW & HOT VINYASA FLOW

Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic style of yoga that syncs movement and breath, creating a flowing movement from one pose to the next pose, typically offering more cardio and strength elements to the practice.

Hot Vinyasa Flow is the same style of yoga practiced within a heated room between 90-105 degrees at 40-60% humidity. Benefits of hot yoga include releasing water retention, increased circulation and hormonal balance.

AYURVEDA

Ayurveda can be translated as the science of life, and is the sister science to yoga, a science based on the five elements. The integration of ayurveda into our yoga practice deepens our self study and self awareness in relation to nature and natural cycles. Ayurveda offers an individualized, and therapeutic approach to health, vitality and joy. It is based upon the tenant that we do not mold ourselves to fit the practice but rather the yoga practice should be unique to who we are and what we need in order to support our health.

HATHA FLOW & GENTLE VINYASA FLOW

Hatha Flow and Gentle Vinyasa Flow are alignment focused styles of yoga, with simple transitions from pose to pose.

FUNCTIONAL FITNESS

Functional Fitness classes are a dynamic style of strength training that blends isolation, medicine balls, alignment, mobility and cardio. This class is a balanced workout lead by a certified personal trainer and suitable for the healthy beginner or all level practitioner.
